Inspiration

www.pinterest.com

Pinterest -

Pinterest is one of my go to sources of inspiration. I often use it because the image is more artwork based than google image search and you can quite easily find new artists and designer linking to multiple different blogs.

My Pinterest feed is littered with packaging design, poster art and comic art. Pinterest grabs your interests and feeds them back to you in a helpful manner.

Films -

Films are a big source of my inspiration. I work in a cinema so have immediate access to all new films and any artwork that comes to promote the film.

My favourite film is BTTF, Sci-Fi and time travel is something very close to me, I will touch on it further in this post for my own work.
Below I will post my tribute art to this amazing film franchise.

Marvel -

I really enjoy superhero films, especially the Marvel Cinematic Universe. I've been following it since the beginning and have been able to have a non biased view on each film giving me new ideas in my own work.

Marvel out of the two major comic companies has to be my favourite it's much more upbeat and doesn't take itself too seriously. The stories are outrages but they still make me think about if the world was like that how we would exist, it manages to draw you in so well.

Comics -

I love reading but I love the imagination and art put into comics, I think it's important to have a visual alongside the type a lot of the time but not all of it.
Last year after years of attempting to start one up I decided to create my own comic as part of my FMP for my foundation year. This links into the strong feelings about Sci-Fi and Time Travel as the novel is based all around this.
Like I said previously my Pinterest page is covered in comic art and most of my boards contain a lot of this art because I take inspiration from it all.

Here is a link to my comic in ISSUU and to the side is a preview of the cover.

Colossal -

Colossal is one of the blogs I enjoy to look at. There's always new art from all different areas, styles and artists. The piece to the left is something that I found 2 years ago and created my own responses to for my Photography A Level. I will post my responses below but as they are gifs. I will have to post a link to another page I think. Fong Qi Wei is the photographer and captured images and from different points in time. This caused different moods and lighting throughout, another one of my passions is light within artwork. I always try and include some sort of lighting or shadow in my work to make it unique to me.

Mondotees -

Has helped me a lot. The artwork on the site is always updated and constantly makes me want to buy multiple designs. The art posted to it inspired me to start remaking film poster art.

Olly Moss -

Linking back to Mondotees and my love of films Olly Moss. Moss creates some absolutely beautiful pieces of art available for purchase but with a limited amount of prints. He creates exactly what I would be thrilled to go into, film art. This piece in particular I think is absolutely incredible and is what actually brought me to him. His style is quite consistent although he does vary it from time to time but whenever I have been searching for artwork of this kind and come across one of his I have never seen before I can tell almost instantly who the creator was.

Evan Eckard -

I become quite emotional when talking about Evan Eckard, he is pretty much the reason I became interested in graphic design.
After trolling through YouTube for hours I stumbled across some of his Photoshop tutorials. From then on I improved my skill and because of him I have managed to become who I am today in design.

YouTube -

After talking about using YouTube in the previous section I thought it would be a great way to follow on.
I've used YouTube from a very young age to kill time but also find out all sorts of things I never would have before if I hadn't been procrastinating.
Art work, music, comedy sketches, tutorials are all sorts of things that I never would have found if it weren't for YouTube.

Music -

Music is one of if not he biggest source of my inspiration. I could not live without it, music is my escape from the world. I play multiple instruments and if I'm ever feeling down or can't concentrate on the world then that's my go to. It calms me and allows me to feel.

Above is an image of one of my most played Albums, Hand Built by Robots by Newton Faulkner. One of my favourite songs is People Should Smile More, Faulkner talks about the song at one of his smaller venues and how he came about writing it. He had been out of the world and hadn't left his house for a few weeks, when he finally got the courage he saw an elderly lady struggle with her shopping up some stairs, he offered to help and she hit him. This then inspired him to come up with the line for the song "I can't change the world, 'cause trying to make a difference make it worse." I think that this is absolutely amazing and show that you can pull inspiration from anywhere and even the some of the worst things that happen in life can bring good.
